An Early Birthday Post and Some Other Things

I usually love my birthday week. Doesn't everyone celebrate birthday weeks? This week though found me with just me and the kids. Every morning I had to be at work by 7 a.m. to stand and watch a relatively empty hallway at school. One morning, I couldn't find my i.d. card so I couldn't get through the gate on post. I had to drive home, dump my purse and run through my memory of when I used the card last....I last saw it on Election Day at the polls. Then I had to remember what raincoat I was wearing. This made me 10 minutes late for duty.

My mother went out of town and of course, my husband doesn't live here anymore, so I made plans with a couple of friends to go to one of our favorite hangouts after school today. I also made arrangements to take my friend and her kids and my kids to the World Hunger Farm for their Farm Day. Unfortunately, plans have changed. My friend had to ground both boys because of some majorly severe actions that occurred at school, and I found out last night that Caitlin has to go to regional band tryouts Saturday, leaving her out of the trip, leaving me with just James to go to the farm.

To top it off, my grade level didn't remember it was my birthday. We always have cake and goodies on each birthday. As I left this afternoon, one teacher says in passing, have a happy birthday. It's not that the cake is important. I certainly don't need cake. It's that the day wasn't even acknowledged.

Tomorrow, I am going to the farm with James only because he heard we were going and really wants to go. I know we will have fun. I just wish I wasn't the only one going.

I debated posting about this, but it's my blog and I can write about whatever I want.

On to some more interesting things:

I saw the biggest rainbow the other day. It started out just like a tinge of color. By the time I got out of the car with the camera, it was getting brighter. We were on our way to dance so I had to drive, but then I saw that it was a FULL rainbow arching across the sky. Unfortunately, I couldn't capture the entire thing.

We also tried to capture a beautiful setting sun, but rooftops, car windows and such just kept getting in the way since we didn't have time to stop the car. Caitlin took the sunset pictures so I wouldn't cause an accident.
Tonight when I went to the grocery store, I was greeted by "a million" grackles. I was amazed by the number of birds so I started snapping pictures.

On my way out, I decided to video the scene because the noise was just so unreal, so turn up the volume and imagine those same birds flying in massive flocks overhead threatening to plop bird droppings on you.

(Post comment: Okay, now that I hear it on blogger it isn't so loud, but it is much louder in person.)

When you are done, listen to the playlist for some of my favorite bird songs. Actually, one of them is bird band.

It's your day and you can complain if you want to! So sorry to read that you felt your birthday was overlooked! You are carrying a heavy load right now! If only we lived closer & I'd drive over with a cake!

Happy birthday, my friend! The crackle birds were singing for you ~ who ever knew they made that loud of a noise and there would be so many of them!

Wishing you a healthy and happy year ahead!

Happy birthday my dear friend. As always I enjoyed talking to you on the phone tonight.
I am glad you blogged about your day, getting things off our chest is far healthier than keeping it in.
Keep shining...keep smiling.

PS I wish for you a beautiful life, filled with dreamy magical happy rainbows.

"It's my party and I cry if I want to..." Do you know that song? You have every right to complain my dearest! As Peggy said: it's better to get it off your chest!

May the sun shine upon you today and may you have a wonderful time at the farm!!!!
