A Doodle A Day

Image
In January, I decided that my word for the year would be creativity . I have done a good job of keeping up with it, too. Last month, I decided to draw a face a day. I enjoyed that, but decided that I had enough of faces. So, I was reading Julie's blog, Balzer Designs: Art Journal Everyday when I saw a guest post from Carolyn Brady . She had a method of filling an art journal page by tangling a little each day. I decided to use that on the back of my calendar journal pages. I call it "A Doodle A Day." Here are the most recent entries. 1. Dentilles; 2. Finish Line; 3. Polish Pottery 4. Oobleck; 5. Mum's the Word; 6. Swiss Cheese 7. Fishnet Stockings; 8. Walk This Way; 9. Secret Garden Similarly to Carolyn, I drew a grid on my page - a total of 30 squares (6X5.) Everyday, I get out the Millennium fine points from Zig and place one pattern in a square. Now, Carolyn colored hers but I am a strictly black & white girl. I have some more water color pa...

On the Creative Front

This year in an attempt to explore more creative avenues, I joined Sketchbook Challenge and a Calendar Challenge . I did fine on the first one, but completely flaked on the second. Here is what I have finished this past week. I finished the front cover of this book: Then I followed the directions for Sunday on this weekly art journal plan, and came up with this: Just using some of my favorite motifs to put this zentangle scene together: I think I am going to turn this into a set of note cards: I think for as busy as January has been, I have managed to enjoy some pretty good creative time. I have one more project I would like to add to the creative mix. I planned to do it last month, but the month got away from me and it required me to remember what I did everyday. I will share more with you soon.

Who's That Girl??

I had this afternoon off because I was going to take James to the doctor, but when I called the doctor's office, the receptionist said she was double booked all day because another provider was out of the office for the day. I ended up taking James home anyway since I had a substitute ordered. So I went home and relaxed and pulled out one of my sketchbooks. I warmed up with some zentangling and then dared to draw some faces with marker. There's no taking back marker. The first one is okay. The second is just a base. I think I will leave it to scan when the computer is up and running and then try different styles of hair on her. I really like this one. I can envision her many ways. I can't wait to work with her. Wouldn't it make a good stamp? On to other things... You know what's interesting?? I really don't have much to say. I have never been one to be short of words, but lately my brain is so busy with work and the kids that it doesn't have the time to wand...

Doodles and Such

Image
A while back, I posted about moleskine books and how jealous I was of these creative people. I was so impressed by the things people think of. Then one day I decided to buy a small book. It sat in its wrapping for awhile. Then I drew a simple nothing. Then it sat on a shelf calling me. Over Christmas break, I pulled it out and started drawing whatever came to mind. The book stayed hidden on a shelf for no one to see. Today I decided that this was silly and that the only difference between those other people and me was they put their stuff on the internet. (Actually, I am still impressed with the nose guy.) Recently I have begun posting my projects as part of my journey toward living a creative life. So here are some of the pages from my moleskine book: I love these kids, but I am laughing now that I see the girl's legs aren't underneath her. Same kiddos at Christmas. I think her legs are under her body this time. This was a font my dad used to draw all the time for certificate...
