12 Days of Christmas


There have been several versions of The 12 Days of Christmas out there, but this one is my new favorite. It is a 1998 performance of an a capella group called "Straight No Chaser" (SNC) from Indiana University. I heard it on the radio yesterday and promised myself to look it up when I got home...I actually remembered, so here it is. (You might need to pause the Playlist in the sidebar.)



Coincidentally, the kids and I went on our annual journey to Belton Lake where they have a display called Nature in Lights. Enjoy the pictures while you listen to SNC sing this untraditional version of an old Christmas standard.

It was worth the hour's traffic on a country road to listen to James ooh and ahh over the innumerable light displays.

aww, so glad you and the kids got to see this. my home town, San Angelo, has this same display down my the river. it is really nice!

I loved the performance! That was pretty cool... and I'm sure the lights were fun to see.

My daughter just sat beside me on the couch and has fallen asleep. One leg draped over mine, which is now falling asleep, too.... Don't you just hate to wake them up (children and legs, I guess) when they've drifted off like that?

I should take K and N out for a drive to see lights but we don't have such a display of lights like yours in our city! It sounds like a great evening!

Well, as a family we were all going to use the long weekend to trek down to Texas and rip out carpet and paint walls. Come to find out, Gary doesn't have Monday off so it would make a really bad turn around time. So...we decided to stay home and make plans to go another time. Here Comes August

We made it to Missouri. We have been here a week and a half. I really like it here, but I don't have a job yet. In between the time I am applying for jobs and taking my kids to enroll in school and dance, I have had some time to play with water colors. First up is my completed July calendar journal . I am proud that I have kept up with this as long as I have. Click on images for clearer, larger look . I also have August's ready to be filled. (I have September's, too, but you will have to wait for that one.) I completed 30 days of creating faces . Most of them are female, but there is one questionable one and one definite boy. Kiss Me I'm Irish???

What's a Puerto Rican American girl doing with a blatantly IRISH blog background? Well, growing up, I spent a lot of time visiting with my mom's sister who loves everything Irish as does my mother, even though they were both born and lived in Puerto Rico the first few years of their lives. This all came from the fact that when they were in grade school, their father put them in a children's home run by Irish Catholic nuns in New York. You can't get any more Irish than that. The Irish people have certainly known their share of hardship and trials from the Potato Famine of the 1840s which lead to many leaving their homeland in the late 19th Century to come to the United States of America only for many of them to find opportunities here to be not much better.
