Vintage Goodness

So I was reading Jacque's post on Little Red Studio today where she let people know about a sweet giveaway over at The Vintage Workshop. I hopped right over to see what was up. Well wouldn't you know it they were talking about gardening and sponsoring a giveaway of some goodies with a vintage gardening theme. You should pop on in and visit them. Great stuff.

So it got me thinking (as I am prone to do) about the last time I tried to garden. I have decided that I have a black thumb. Everything I try to grow turns out bad. The only one time that it seemed it was going to turn out fine, we had to move before the potatoes matured. :-( So I dug them up and showed my daughter what had become of them. It was exciting, but after everything else that I killed, I decided that gardening is probably not for me.

The gardeners in my family are my mother and her sister. My mother loves container gardening, mostly flowers, but she does have some herbs growing out front. Her sister however, doesn't just have a green thumb, she has a green hand, brain, whatever. Everything she touches blooms like you wouldn't believe. I wish I had some pictures on this computer.

Anyway, if I win some of the gardening themed goodies from Vintage Workshop, I know exactly who they are going to. Unless, of course you win them first.

Good luck and happy gardening.

Another commonality: plants don't like me either! I love looking at them but don't enjoy tending to them! Can you imagine: my hands get dirty when gardening! Ick! It's one thing to have paint on my hands but dirt?!

thanks for introduction to the vintage studio! I have 2 tomato plants that already have tomatoes on them so I guess my thumb is at least a pale green!

When I was younger, I really killed a lot of houseplants. I was convinced that I did not have a green thumb. But somewhere along the way, in the 1980's, I discovered herbs and that was the beginning of a new period in my life. I now grow herbs, perennials and annuals. but I especially love the herbs. You might experiment with a few pots of them on your patio or deck. The best part is you can also eat them! I know you can do it!
By the way, I still can't keep an African violet alive.....

Most plants die the moment I look at them... the only thing that I can't seem to get killed are the unwanted weeds... I DO have a small garden and I KEEP ON trying though... but most of the time I buy some summer flowers in the Spring, put them in pots and get them out in Autumn... that's the only thing that seems to work for me! I don't have plants in my house... but I guess I smoke too much for them to survive inside *teehee*

it's the same here, we're horrible at gardening! I didn't inherit my grandma's, grandpa's and mum's green thumb. We only have a balcony but we got plants from our parents and most of them seem to stay alive from being watered once in a while, just not thriving, while indoor plants get killed. If we ever get a garden, the plants in there won't feel lucky...

Ha,ha...your post and Marit's comment makes me laugh...weeds are the only plants who don't die on me..the rest always, even inside the house! Guess i have a black hand ;))
