A Beautiful Saturday Afternoon

The weather today couldn't be beat. After dance lessons, I just had to take the kids to the park. That's when I realized, I can't remember the last time I took James to the park. To my defense, our park is not the nicest park in the world even if it is a very big one. For this reason I drove to another town to go to the park.

When we pulled into the parking lot and got out of the car, James looked at me as if to say, "Is this for real? Do my eyes deceive me? Are we going to play at the park?" Once he realized it was okay, he immediately ran to the jungle gym and began going up and down the slide. I followed him around taking pictures, listening to him interact with other kids. I had to giggle when he asked a little girl her name and was quickly given the brush-off. (Get used to it, kiddo. Girls are fickle.)

Even Cait got in on the fun.

James was a little nervous at first.

Then he began to have a little fun.

After some fun at the park, we went for lunch at Five Guys Burgers where James decided to provide us with a little entertainment.





He's quite the little ham.

After having such a fun day, I promised James that we would return to this park. It was definitely worth the drive.

Lovely post Annemarie.
This is exactly what Joseph and I do each week.
We stay on the swings for ages singing songs together.

I Love Tissue Paper

If you saw my Discipline collage , you can tell I have a thing for tissue paper. I have used it make inchies and to paint mountain/sunset scenes. Now I am working on some ATCs . I have done some before using the same cardstock I am using this time. However, I am tired of this background and want to alter it some how, so here's where the process went. (Note: I did try it on some sample-sized pieces of cardstock first so you might see those pop in from shot to shot.) I began with a plain piece of cardstock (it is supposed to be green/yellow.) I lightly drew a line on the card. I then squeezed some glue onto the card (don't ask why it's blue...that's another story.) I used scrap piece of stock to spread the glue to get a perfectly straight edge. I laid the tissue paper onto the wet glue and pressed out the bubbles. (You could use a brayer, it gets messy.) No Turning Back

That title makes me think of a song we sing at church. "I have decided to follow Jesus....No turning back, no turning back." This time, however, it has to do with pushing the finalize button on the Expedia website. I finally purchased tickets to fly to Norway this summer with my friend Peggy. This was an idea I conjured up a couple of years ago after making contact with a friend from Norway I met 16 years ago when he was traveling around the US. Peggy heard about it, I asked her if she wanted to come, and surprisingly, she did. Ever since then, I have been working (teaching summer school and selling Mary Kay) to pay for this trip. I think if I hadn't made plans with Peggy, I wouldn't have ever had the guts to actually go . I'm Baaack...At Least for a Bit

Long time no post. So what brings me back? Quirky Dutch Summer . Week 1 has me making my own art journal.  This sent me on a field trip to Hobby Lobby where I found quite a deal on journals, canvases and a pad of primed sheets of canvas. (More than 75% off.) I then dug through a very old stash of acrylic paint. All of my art supplies are in the garage after I cleaned out my office for Thanksgiving a year and a half ago. I needed room for a long table. I also didn't want my company seeing my messy workspace. I've not brought much in since then. That's what I'm liking about Quirky Dutch Summer. It has me playing in my art stuff again. I have no plans this summer and my youngest is about to leave for cousin camp, giving me plenty of time to get my hands dirty. So let me show you what I've made.
