Thanks Aunt Pam

My cousin Pam (aka Pamela) and I are more like sisters than cousins. Shortly after I was born, my mom moved to her sister's house in Long Island until my father returned from Viet Nam. (Did I just date myself?) Pam is my mother's niece. She is just a year older than I. (Did I just date her?)

From the time I was five, Pam's father sent for me for the summer, and Pam and I were inseparable. As time passed, we were in each other's weddings, and each had the corresponding girl then boy.

Pam is the only one of the innumerable cousins I have that I regularly keep in touch with. My kids don't have any real aunts, so they call her Aunt Pam rather than Cousin Pam which sounds kind of weird.

Today, my son received the best package ever in the mail from my delightfully insane cousin. This what we found.An abundance of Gymboree shorts, shirts, undies and swim shorts. He is definitely going to be the best dressed kiddo on the playground.

We just wanted to say, THANKS AUNT PAM!!!

I Love Tissue Paper

If you saw my Discipline collage , you can tell I have a thing for tissue paper. I have used it make inchies and to paint mountain/sunset scenes. Now I am working on some ATCs . I have done some before using the same cardstock I am using this time. However, I am tired of this background and want to alter it some how, so here's where the process went. (Note: I did try it on some sample-sized pieces of cardstock first so you might see those pop in from shot to shot.) I began with a plain piece of cardstock (it is supposed to be green/yellow.) I lightly drew a line on the card. I then squeezed some glue onto the card (don't ask why it's blue...that's another story.) I used scrap piece of stock to spread the glue to get a perfectly straight edge. I laid the tissue paper onto the wet glue and pressed out the bubbles. (You could use a brayer, it gets messy.) No Turning Back

That title makes me think of a song we sing at church. "I have decided to follow Jesus....No turning back, no turning back." This time, however, it has to do with pushing the finalize button on the Expedia website. I finally purchased tickets to fly to Norway this summer with my friend Peggy. This was an idea I conjured up a couple of years ago after making contact with a friend from Norway I met 16 years ago when he was traveling around the US. Peggy heard about it, I asked her if she wanted to come, and surprisingly, she did. Ever since then, I have been working (teaching summer school and selling Mary Kay) to pay for this trip. I think if I hadn't made plans with Peggy, I wouldn't have ever had the guts to actually go . I'm Baaack...At Least for a Bit

Long time no post. So what brings me back? Quirky Dutch Summer . Week 1 has me making my own art journal.  This sent me on a field trip to Hobby Lobby where I found quite a deal on journals, canvases and a pad of primed sheets of canvas. (More than 75% off.) I then dug through a very old stash of acrylic paint. All of my art supplies are in the garage after I cleaned out my office for Thanksgiving a year and a half ago. I needed room for a long table. I also didn't want my company seeing my messy workspace. I've not brought much in since then. That's what I'm liking about Quirky Dutch Summer. It has me playing in my art stuff again. I have no plans this summer and my youngest is about to leave for cousin camp, giving me plenty of time to get my hands dirty. So let me show you what I've made.
